Baby Ray (yes, the band)

Odds were against the brainiest band in town and perhaps the universe to come up with something still smarter and sweeter the second time around. But Baby Ray's new seven-song EP has more unhinged hooks, more skewed time, more weird words than seem quite logical. Equally illogical but completely cool is the fact that the band has grown proportionately tighter and looser in the year since its debut, "Monkeypuzzle," came out. That's a compliment, students. Sort of loke loosing a gush of adrenaline-stoked pop through a complicated maze. Or solving hard math problems using notes instead of integers. Listening to this disc will improve your grades. And your record collection.
